A THIRD OF THE NATIONS BUILDING ACTIVITY IN VICTORIA

The Victorian Building Commission has recently released their September Pulse Market Intelligence Report, with some encouraging results for the industry.

Some key observations from the 2010/11 financial year include:

Victoria represented 33% of the nations building approvals

The value of building permit activity in Victoria was $24.3 billion

Building permits issued rose in every sector except for domestic housing (steady) and public buildings (decrease)

Growth sectors were residential (70%), commercial (3%), retail (18%) and industrial (10%)

Regions with the greatest growth were Metropolitan Melbourne (6%) and Inner Melbourne (12%)

These numbers all point toward a steady market in Victoria with particularly strong figures for central Melbourne.

LEADING TOOL BRANDS ARE BACK

Following the huge success of the VEK Power Tools Pavilion in 2011, DesignBUILD has partnered with Construction Supply Specialists for 2012 to bring the latest tools and equipment from leading brands to the Victorian market.

Construction Supply Specialists – CSS – is a collective of like-minded, independently owned distributors of a broad-based range of fasteners, tools, construction and industrial products and services.

The CSS Tools Pavilion will feature more than 10 leading tool brands, with the experts that know them best onsite to answer questions

and conduct hands-on demonstrations in dedicated work stations.

DesignBUILD is now focussed on giving other tool and equipment suppliers the opportunity to take advantage of a free-of-charge 'demo station'* . With thousands of builders, plumbers and contractors in attendance there will be no better forum to showcase your latest gear in Melbourne.

INDUSTRY PANEL TO DRIVE PLANNING
FOR 2012 AND BEYOND

As a division of Diversified Exhibitions, DesignBUILD has the knowhow, resources and track record for running the highest quality exhibitions.

However, when servicing such a large industry with a broad array of sectors, it is important to involve stakeholders in the decision-making surrounding the show to ensure it remains current and relevant.

For 2012 the DesignBUILD Industry Panel has been developed. This will see 15 - 20 representatives from a variety of sectors meet to discuss the direction of the industry, front-of- mind concerns and the makeup of DesignBUILD as a consequence moving forward.

The group has been compiled to include representatives from leading construction firms, architectural firms, SME building/contractor companies, manufacturers and distributors.

The first discussion panel is scheduled to take place in October, with two more sessions to follow before the expo in June next year. If you know someone that should be involved, or have discussion topics you would like raised, please contact one of the team.

MARKET LEADER TO HEADLINE
GREEN BUILDING ZONE

CSR for green building professionals

CSR is the name behind some of the market's most trusted and recognised brand names in building products for residential and commercial construction.

Names that builders and generations of Australians have come to know and trust, like Gyprock™ plasterboard, Bradford™ Insulation, PGH™ bricks and pavers, Monier™ and Wunderlich™ roof tiles and Viridian™ glass to name a few.

In 2012 CSR have confirmed significant participation for DesignBUILD where the latest products from these leading brands will be on display. With technical experts on hand to assist, there will be no better place for architects, builders and designers to have enquiries relating to their latest projects answered on the spot.
